Description
New chamber music for bassoon and piano - isn't there enough of it already? We think: No!
Far too often, the bassoon leads a shadowy existence in the back of the orchestra - it can be so charming and create amusing, cryptic or melancholy-gloomy moods. Especially when Berthold Grosse (Stockholm), a master of his instrument, brings the music to life.
Oliver Drechsel (Cologne) is not only a piano partner on the present recording, but also contributes some of his own compositions to the CD program.
Also represented: Andreas Herkenrath (Cologne), both with his own composition and with a work in which he shares the authorship with Oliver Drechsel. And last but not least Johan Ullen (Stockholm), one of the most sought-after composers of his generation in Sweden.
