Description
Amparo Cortés is the daughter of the well known singer and dancer Gitanillo de Marchena. Her uncle, Gitanillo's brother, was the world famous guitarist Melchor de Marchena. Amparo is a flamenco singer with an incredible duende, a stage presence which easily captures any audience she is performing to.
DUENDE Y AMORES is Amparo’s third album for Music & Words and again it has been recorded superbly by Paul Rans, producer of Belgian classical radio station Klara. Where her first album 'Sueños' (MWCD4015, 1996) was very traditional, her second 'Candela' (MWCD4025, 1999) was much lighter in tone. On this new album she takes another step forward. She still writes all the poetic lyrics and music herself, but the new compositions are influenced by South American traditions, such as rumba and tango. But whatever she sings, sevillanas, rumbas, bulerias, alegrias or even ‘cantes chicos’ (small songs), every song becomes ‘grande’ or ‘jondo’ when a great singer sings them.
Tracks: No Soy Canastera / Bendecir El Amor / Dame Yerbabuena / No Me Comprendiste / Ensename / Guitarrero Ven Y Toca / Bien, Bien / No Me Beses / Bailame Tu Solea / Como Los Rios / Duende Y Amores.
