Description
No musical genre captures the imagination as much as the tango, it is imbued with passion, a universal music of life made for dancing and a game of resistance and surrender to love. Tango 02 (ZeroDos) comes with its first album, called "Por Eso," which means as much as "therefore.
Founded in 1996 in Brussels, Orquesta TÃpica Tango 02 is Belgium's longest-standing tango band. The group has since built a strong repertoire of traditional and contemporary tango music and has played countless performances for dancing audiences. In those 25 years, Tango 02 has also created new dance and concert compositions with which it has taken and explored new directions.
Today it is time for its first album, entirely in line with the character of the tango music from the Rio de la Plata, the region of Buenos Aires and Montevideo: urban popular dance music with often a touch of stubbornness and (self) mockery. Why? Because! Or in Spanish: Por Eso. Or also: just because, the inspiration and energy were there and Tango 02 wants to share the resulting music with the general public. Because the wistful tones of the bandoneon combined with the fiery and rousing rhythm can leave no one unmoved. Catherine Smet, pianist at Tango 02 for many years, and Pato Lorente sign for these passionate songs of their own.
Bandoneon player and artistic director Patrick Vankeirsbilck, better known as Pato Lorente, is the founder of Tango 02. He learned the tricks of the trade from Alfredo Marcucci, the famous Argentine bandoneon master who lived in Flanders and with whom Pato played hundreds of concerts throughout Europe from 1995 to 2009. Lorente also studied in Buenos Aires with masters Julio Pane and Carlos Pazo. The authentic character of Tango 02 is due to these masters.
