Guy Schalom returns to lead these Egyptian master musicians back to his roots in the urban Egyptian dance music known as Baladi. "'Ensemble' is spot-on; their togetherness is so absolute...they lift us to exotic locales both dry and dusty' (WOMAD)
This all-star collective of Egyptian master-musicians was formed in 2007 and originally featured the late "Founding Father of Baladi" accordionist Sheik Taha. They have since appeared at a host of international festivals including WOMAD, Songlines Encounters Festival and Musicport.
Their soulful and energetic music was featured in the BBC documentary "Bellydancing and the Blues" and they were nominated for Best Group in the Songlines Music Awards 2013.
Returning to the stage for special events, the group continues to surprise audiences and break new ground: their 2014 album 'Baladi Blues Reloaded' featured their collaboration with electro-geniuses Transglobal Underground and Kamel Nitrate.
'TEN' marks the 10-year anniversary of Guy Schalom's Baladi Blues project and his tenth solo album, his previous album being described by fROOTS magazine as "Outstanding, fresh and compelling as well as technically superb".
