Everyone who has heard this music talks of its highly visual impact. The poems inside the liner notes are inspired directly by the music – like a film with varying landscapes, they explore components of the human condition including joy, inspiration, disillusion, hope, confusion and existentialism. The tracks are the very best of many sessions Sourikova recorded on trips to New York and Montréal from 2006 to 2008. The recordings are beautifully produced, with superb audio quality.

We hear Sourikova as a pianist maturing in her own style that is fluid; sensual and refreshingly different from many contemporary jazz pianists. Drummer Ivan Bamford emerges as a highly creative percussive force, creating an unexpected but very successful counterpoint to the piano. The soaring lines and exquisite phrasing of alto saxophonist Curtis Macdonald are pitched against the solid yet highly melodic playing of bassists Remi-Jean leBlanc and Rick Rosato. At times, subtle electronic textures are blended into the mix. This is an album of wide textural variety and of extraordinary sonic detail.
