Description
This collector's edition includes one of the singer/songwriters' finest albums, The Sound of Johnny Cash. On this LP, Cash made a conscious effort to return to the stripped-down sound of his Sun recordings. The album was released in August of 1962 by Columbia Records and contains a handful of excellent songs, such as "In the Jailhouse Now", a Jimmie Rodgers cover which reached No. 8 on the country charts, and "Delia's Gone", a song thatwould become part of Cash's standard repertoire. He would record a new version of this classic some years later on American Recordings (1994).
In addition to this sensational LP, Waxtime have included two single releases from the same period as a bonus: "Bonanza!", the theme to the hit television show, and the gospel-themed "(There'll Be) Peace in the Valley (For Me)
