  • Description

Roger Watson has been a great influence on the Folk Song and Dance movement in this country for 60 years. Roger's songs have been widely accepted by the folk world and many have become classics. This album is of Roger's song mainly performed by other singers. However there are two rare examples of Roger singing his own songs recovered from recordings of live performances.

Roger writes: - 'I first encountered English traditional songs and realised that their format could be a vehicle by which I could express things I wanted to say. I firmly believe that tradition is a fluid and ever evolving form, many of the singers here have made their own changes to the lyrics and melodies I wrote, as well as creating their own arrangements. I heartily encourage any singers who learn them to do the same!'
