Description
Although producer/songwriter NORMAN PETTY's name perhaps remains synonymous with Buddy Holly & The Crickets, he also worked with plenty of other great artists, notably Roy Orbison & The Teen Kings, Buddy Knox, Jimmy Bowen, Carolyn Hester, Sonny Curtis, Jimmy Gilmer, The Fireballs, The String-A-Longs, The Champs, and a young Bobby Fuller.
All these and many more are featured in this carefully-compiled 36-track collection of Petty's productions, between 1956-62, which also includes tracks by rather lesser-known, cult collectors' artists like Sonee West, Terry Noland, Peanuts Wilson, Earl Henry, The Nighthawks, Jack & Jim, Myron Lee & The Caddies, Larry Trider, The Hollyhawks, etc.
Also included is Buddy Britten & The Regents' celebrated cover of Terry Noland's 'Long Gone Baby', which Petty recorded in London, for Pye Records, in 1962.
Several of these sides are seriously rare, having never previously appeared on CD, confirming this as a doubly welcome release.
