Description
A legend in his own right, Vancouver–based Barney Bentall has been creating music since 1978. Throughout his career, he has released three independent albums and seven studio albums.
In the late eighties, Barney Bentall formed The Legendary Hearts. Their self–titled debut reached platinum status in Canada, featured three hit singles, and garnered a JUNO Award.
Bentall has since released five studio albums which have all reached gold or platinum status in Canada. In 2007 after the release of Gift Horse (True North Records), Bentall formed The Grand Cariboo Opry with a variety of musicians and hosted concerts for Vancouver's drug–addled east end as a way to help raise funds for needy residents of the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. This was the inspiration for the poignant drug-addict's love story "Annabel" featured on his latest release, Flesh & Bones.
Recorded at The Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, Flesh & Bone is a collection of eleven songs produced by Bentall himself. Influenced by an array of genres from folk to roots, blues–rock to pop and celtic, the album reflects Canada from coast to coast. "Flesh & Bone is haunting yet beautiful with vocals that are pure, truthful and full of emotion. Bentall's lyrics and melodies marry well together".
