Description
Sviatoslav Richter's discography is one of the most disorderly and complex discographies made by a pianist. Richter recorded for several Russian, European and American labels and he authorised dozens of "live" recordings throughout his career. The discography compiled by John Hunt (London, about 2000), under the heading Chopin, includes 23 pages of recordings made over almost 40 years. Ballades, Scherzos, Studies, etc. are disorganised and they are only one part of recordings made in different places, at different times, with different sound techniques.
Organising an "organic" collection of studio recordings, was the task we set ourselves for this 2 CD box. In this way it is possible to access the teaching of this eclectic pianist, caught in his golden years, in the most complex repertoire of the Polish composer.
