Description
Lynyrd Skynyrd, live from Lakewood Amphitheater, Atlanta, GA on August 20th 1994. The band released its first post-reunion album in 1991, entitled Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991. By that time, they had added a second drummer, Kurt Custer. Artimus Pyle left the band during the same year, with Custer becoming the band's sole drummer. That line-up released a second post-reunion album, entitled The Last Rebel in 1993. This performance from Lakewood Amphitheater, Atlanta, GA on August 20th 1994, broadcast on syndicated radio, is part acoustic, part electric, and features the 1987 Skynyrd line-up with Mike Estes replacing Randall Hall and Owen Hale replacing Custer on drums.
Ed King is outstanding (occasionally brilliantly) and Gary Rossingtons off-the-wall solo during "Gimme Three Steps" is a stand out! A great version of "That Smell" shows Skynyrd at their best. This superb show finds them tackling many of their classics, including Sweet Home Alabama, and the anthemic Freebird.
