Description
The presented album contains the most extensive collection of solo piano compositions by Stanislaw Moniuszko in the history of Polish phonography - 50 pieces from the 34th volume of the composer's Complete Works (ed K Mazur, PWM, Krakow 1975) interpreted by the outstanding Warsaw pianist and researcher Marcin Tadeusz Lukaszewski.
An extensive and varied collection of Moniuszko's piano compositions remains overshadowed by his stage, song and religious works. The literature on this subject is also poor, even though the piano was an important instrument in the composer's life and work, and works for this instrument - e.g. polonaises, waltzes, mazurkas, polkas, epigrams, vilanelles - he created all his life.
"Moniuszko's piano works remained almost completely forgotten for decades. Despite a number of editions and a few recordings, it is still waiting to be discovered. [...] [It] should be included in the study of Polish piano music of the 19th century as an important link in its development." - Marcin T. Lukaszewski
The albums were released in a hardcover album edition, with an extensive 80-page booklet in Polish and English, containing an analytical and historical note outlined by Marcin Lukaszewski and the artist's biography
