Snooks Eaglin was in the early stages of his long R&B career when folklorist Harry Oster heard him playing solo on the streets of the French Quarter. "A human jukebox who could listen just once to any song, then reproduce and reinterpret it, whether classical, gospel or blues, Snooks recorded three albums in short succession from 1958 to 1961. A significant influence on the contemporary English folk blues scene… a diverse range of covers, all delivered with smoky, easy vocals reminiscent of Ray Charles, and incredibly dextrous, swinging 12-string guitar.
