The Parforce Horns of the Salzburg Wind Philharmonic conducted by Hansjorg Angerer have dedicated themselves in this CD collection in skilful manner to works for the historic hunting horn which holds a special status in the context of hunting music. Hunting Music at the Imperial Court in Vienna - where the hunting horn under Emperor Franz Joseph I flourished with the horn player Josef Schantl - presents a musical hunting excursion to the former Austrian monarchy and includes hunting fanfares in honour of the most supreme hunters of that time. Hunting Capriccio on the other hand unfolds the diverse creativity of the historic hunting horn by the renowned Austrian composer Paul Angerer who was inspired by a fruitful exchange with Hansjorg Angerer; the recording is rounded off by hunting fantasies and hunting fanfares for contemporary dedicatees.
