Description
In the two years since the release of her debut album, SHIRE BOY, Emily has endeared audiences with her unpretentious approach, clean guitar style and unmistakable voice. It is this hallmark of honest and wholesome music that stamps the Emily Slade seal on her new album FRETLESS. The album is a laid back collection of self-penned, contemporary and traditional songs, with a clean, uncluttered, intimate feel. The eleven tracks are heavily embedded within the partnership of Emily’s outstanding guitar playing and expressive voice. A grafter by nature, Emily’s approach to promoting her debut album saw her travelling the country wide, carving out her reputation at grassroots level amongst the real music lovers who attended her concerts. This has afforded her time to refine her own style. The influence of traditional English music is still wholly present in her guitar playing and in much of the material featured on the album, while these songs remain refreshingly contemporary in approach and production. The material on this new album is broad in range, but pinned closely to the individual guitar technique and open, unpretentious vocal style that Emily has developed. FRETLESS truly heralds Emily as an outstanding guitarist and vocalist coming into her own. Guest accompanists include Kelly While, Kathryn Roberts & Mike Silver (vocals), James O'Grady (pipes and whistles), Phil Beer (fiddle, slide guitar), Gavin Backhouse (piano), Clive Carroll (banjo), Maartin Allcock (bass, mandocello, bouzar).
