Description
Although chiefly regarded as a "One-Hit Wonder", Robin Luke's first class recorded legacy belies that notion, as demonstrated by this unique compilation, which anthologises his recording career between 1958-62, and also includes a trio of unfeasibly rare studio outtakes.
In a brief recording career (he quit singing in 1962), he also enjoyed a number of significant regional successes, most notably on his "home turf" of Hawaii, where he was established as a major local star.
His signature hit, the gentle, haunting Rockabilly ballad 'Susie Darlin'', has in particular aged well; his very first record, it made the U.S. Top 5, charted internationally, and sold in excess of a million and a half copies.
He also made the U.S. Top 100 with 'My Girl', while releases like 'Chicka Chicka Honey', 'You Can't Stop Me From Dreaming', 'Five Minutes More', a cover of Marty Wilde's U.K. hit 'Bad Boy', 'Everlovin'' and 'All Because Of You' were all regional hits.
