Description
Takoma Records frequently dealt in the avant garde, something not normally associated with the acoustic guitar. In the process the label turned out many a visionary record - few more so than Robbie Basho's. Robbie Basho was, as Glenn Jones states in his sleevenote to the Fahey album, 'Takoma's other visionary poet of the guitar. Though Fahey and Basho couldn't have been more dissimilar in temperament, they did have in common many things as artists: both devised original and personal styles of playing the guitar-.-not as a vehicle for showy virtuosity, but as an outlet for emotional expression'. The Seal Of The Blue Lotus was originally issued in 1965 and is a welcome return to catalogue.
