Description
Originally from Oregon but relocated to Austin,Texas, five-man Reckless Kelly has so far been feted with considerable success as a new wave country-rock group with rowdy night bar undertones.
Fine as far as it goes but not entirely worthy of their recordings, at least this new album, in which influences as diverse as Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Costello are as apparent as southern USA roots music.
The present line-up is Cody Braun (vocals, fiddle) and brother Willy Braun (vocals, guitar, principal songwriter), David Abeyta (lead guitar), Jimmy McFeeley (bass guitar) and Jay Nazz (drums), produced by Ray Kennedy out of the Steve Earle camp. Together they have come up with 12 tracks of ballsy yet harmonic rock, including potential crossover hits.
The group's finest album to date, it is the logical progession from territorial success to an international audience.
