Description
With his album Re-Inventions, percussionist Rupert Struber aims to showcase as wide a range as possible of percussion instruments, along with their sonic, technical and musical possibilities. His goal was to transform 'noise' and 'sounds' into music through articulation, phrasing and expression. The musical spectrum ranges from his own compositions to classics and key works of the percussion repertoire, right through to pieces that are as rather little known, bringing together the timbres of around 100 instruments. Featuring works composed by Peter Sadlo, Minoru Miki, David Reeves, Mark Glentworth, Iannis Xenakis plus his own compositions, this recording features Rupert Struber performing a vibraphone solo, a snare drum solo and audio piece, a work for marimba solo and percussion trio and for his own composition, a solo typewriter.
