  • Description

After the amazing success of Gwibdaith Hen Frân in the past year including favourable reviews following their debut album 'Cedors Hen Wrach' (RADALCD022), once again the Blaenau Ffestiniog group has produced an album that oozes with merriment and excitement. Gwibdaith Hen Frân are old favourites on BBC Radio Cymru and programmes like S4C's Bandit since they formed in 2006. They draw inspiration from the thrilling and comical sound of the ukulele and from the band's attitude towards life, their friends and events. Their songs are colourful stories from their day-to-day lives. On the new album we learn about the postman, the little red squirrel and Glyn's mother's knickers. The guitarist, Paul Thomas, said "George Formby is one of the well-known ukulele players, his comical style of writing and singing has been an inspiration to Gwibdaith Hen Frân, and the thrilling sound of the ukulele plays an important role for us. Our inspiration has been spurned on by the old characters in the village with their never-ending stories, and personal experiences of the band members in our daily lives." Radio Cymru presenter Dylan Wyn, said, "It's an honour to be able to exclusively play Gwibdaith's new tracks first. The debut album is wearing thin as it's been played and played with some tracks proving to be very popular during our request show. Gwibdaith have their own fresh and unique sound, with the rare talent of creating fun and putting a smile on your face."
