  • Description

Highly anticipated debut LP from Dublin's Raglans, produced by Ivor Novello nominee Jay Reynolds (Elton John, Pulp, The Verve and mastered by Grammy award winning Brian Lucy (The Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Beck). It also features two tracks mixed by Cenzo Townsend (Florence and the Machine, Snow Patrol, The Kaiser Chiefs).

Since forming, the four-piece have undergone a meteoric rise in popularity, rising from a crowd pleasing, gig-opening favourite at Dublin's Whelan's hotspot to garnering widespread recognition across the UK, supporting the likes of The Courteeners and HAIM.

Overflowing with radio-friendly hooks, the album builds on the honed classics that have already cemented their popularity, most notably, fan favourites 'Natives' and 'Digging Holes,' both included. There's also the weightier post-punk homage in 'The Man From Glasgow' - about "The maddest, most notorious 70's Glaswegian promoter we've ever had the pleasure of meeting," says lead singer Stephen Kelly. And the grittier folk of forthcoming single 'Lady Roll Back The Years', about Stephen's humorous close-encounter with an older woman, who had "dastardly intentions." Out in February, it's a contrast to previous singles, highlighting the band's versatility as it dips into a raw jumpy style akin to The Libertines circa 'Up The Bracket'. Importantly, Raglans are not afraid to delve into even more polished anthemic sounds with soon-to-be festival favourite 'Not Now', as well as a newer version of the bands first ever demo, the addictive 'Down'.

'Raglans', as an LP, encompasses the grouped vocals of The Lumineers, the multi-intrumentalist efforts of Of Monsters And Men, whilst highlighting the substantial post-punk indie camaraderie of the early noughties. "It's folk, it's indie, it's revivalist blues," says Stephen. Raglans are now preparing to promote the album, setting off to support fellow bluesy wunderkinds The Strypes on a huge nationwide tour of the UK, playing venues such as Shepherd's Bush Empire (NME Awards Tour) and Brighton's Concorde 2. "We've been friends for some time now, playing gigs with them. Back when they were playing at twelve years old we could already tell the guys were going to be big. We're very excited to back playing with them."

Asked about the band's beginnings, multi-instrumentalist and 24 year old lead vocalist Stephen Kelly jokes about pinching Rhos (bass, backing vocals) from his old band and setting off to the capital to meet Conn (drums, backing vocals) and most recent addition Sean (lead guitar, backing vocals) to begin rehearsing, touring Ireland and putting the name out there. Fast forward a year on the Dublin circuit and Raglans were invited to spend a week producing and recording with the legendary Morrissey collaborator Boz Boorer. A host of new material under their belt, the four lads set to work on their debut EP entitled 'Long Live.'
