Description
The psaltery is one of the oldest stringed instruments in the history of mankind. In German-speaking countries it is somewhat crudely referred to as the "hammered dulcimer", in Persian it is the santur and in Hungarian the cimbalom (from which it is not far to the harpsichord), while in Italian it lost the initial P and was used as an obbligato salterio for a number of particularly elegant compositions. The fine, delicate sound of the clapped strings is also the focus of the latest production, with which the ensemble nuovo aspetto once again lives up to its name: From a new perspective, the performers, led by the virtuoso "lace maker" Elisabeth Seitz, look at a series of Romanesque rarities in which gravity seems to be temporarily suspended thanks to the delicate yet prominent solo instrument.
