Description
This is the first physical CD that comprehensively compiles the best of Donnie Brooks' recordings, including records he made under other names. The CD includes the rock 'n' roll song that started his career, 'Bertha Lou', recorded as Johnny Faire as well as 'Mission Bell' and 'Doll House', both of which made the U.S. Top 40 and 'Memphis' which was also a hit in Australia.
Included in the collection are several songs that only appeared on Brooks' ERA label LP in 1961.
Among the wide variety of recordings he made are songs written by Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, Russ Regan, Ray Charles, Buck Ram & Al Nevins and Johnny Mercer.
The six page booklet includes a biography of the artist, the state of the music business on the West Coast at the time, label scans, reviews and other contemporary items.
