Description
On 'Tandem', pianist Dawn Clement performs duets with some of her closest musical colleagues from the past 20 years. The album features jazz compositions by Monk & Tristano plus her own originals.
In duets with the legendary trombonist Julian Priester, drummer Matt Wilson, vocalist Johnaye Kendrick and others, Clement enjoys intimate conversations through jazz compositions by Monk & Tristano, her own originals, and classics such as "My Ideal," "In the Wee Small Hours," and "I Think of You." The result is a collection so fresh and raw it's as if the listener has eaves-dropped on these musician's most guarded secrets. It's Clement's unique ability to tap into that vulnerability that makes her music so relevant and resonant.
The musical delicacy and vivaciousness of pianist/composer Dawn Clement has been heard in some of the world's premiere venues including Carnegie Hall, Le Conservatoire Superieur in Paris, and Seattle's Benaroya Hall, as well as numerous clubs (including Sweet Rhythm and Tonic), museums and theatres. Dawn has also toured the U.S. with a number of projects including the Sabella Consort, the Rubin/Clement Piano Dialogues, and with NYC saxophonist, Jane Ira Bloom.
