Description
The work of Mieczyslaw Weinberg has been enjoying an increasing popularity in recent years both in Poland and worldwide. This exceptionally enthusiastic revival is associated with the hundredth anniversary of the composer's birth, which fell on 8 December 2019. The album of flutist Lukasz Dlugosz, accompanied by the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, perfectly shows the varied facets of Weinberg's compositional style.
Two concertos for flute and strings featured on the album are a perfect example of Neoclassical influences, ubiquitous in Weinberg's works. In turn, the Symphony No. 7 for string orchestra and harpsichord makes us aware of the original way in which the composer approached the matter of such pieces.
The album contains the world premiere recording of Weinberg's Flute Concerto No. 2.
