    This recording by Lucas Blondeel and David Stromberg is based on the latest research into the interpretation of Beethoven's works. The performance practice, the historical instruments and their playing techniques form a unified whole. Beethoven's five cello sonatas were recorded using five special, original fortepianos from the period when the sonatas were composed. The cello was made in our time in the historical manner and allows us to approximate the sound of Beethoven's time. It is strung with gut strings, which have a particularly versatile sound.
