Following on from for their critically acclaimed album Thamesis, Shivelight (a word created by poet Gerard Manley Hopkins for the lances of sunshine that pierce the canopy of a wood) is the exciting, multi-genre new album by Mishaped Pearls.

Folk music is still the underlying genre, but Shivelight ventures into new territories combining many styles including: rock, indie, trad, pop, classical and World music. Lyrically, as well as the reworking of two traditional songs, exploring some dark current issues such as the environment, war, depression, nature and injustice. These poignant themes are countered by the contrasting and positive musical brightness of the melodies, arrangements and diverse instrumentation Mishaped Pearls has come to be known for.

The band have incorporated many more musical influences on Shivelight which include elements of Fairport Convention, Radiohead, The Police, Vashti Bunyan, Bruce Springsteen, Tinariwen, Maria Callas, The Dubliners, Kate Bush, and many more. This makes Shivelight a musically eclectic album but it's all held together by the amazing voice of lead vocalist Manu Schuette and the unique unmistakable Mishaped Pearls sound.

Mishaped Pearls are Manu Shuette - vocals, Ged Flood - vocals, bvs, guitars, tenor banjo, saz baglama, mandolin and tenor ukelele, Andrew Sleightholme - piano, samples and bvs, Calie Hough - drums, hand drums and percussion, Massimo Troiani - bass and back vocals, Tom Finigan - guitar, saz baglama, mandolin, tenor banjo and bvs, Laurel S Pardue - fiddle, violin and viola.
