Description
Taken from the Chopin Competition in 2000, pianist Mihaela Ursuleasa takes us through the competition pieces she performed at the 14th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition held in Warsaw 4-22 October 2000. No one will replace the sensitivity of Mihaela Ursuleasa, the Romanian pianist who died aged just 33, an artist at once both sensitive and creating the impression of firmness, of confidently walking on solid ground, proposing an art that was subtle and individual, but set on the enduring foundations of classical proportion and means of expression. She was a revolutionary, but she never lost sight of her own personal artistic approach to each and every work. There really are, and always have been, few pianists with such an outlook. Perhaps that explains why her sudden departure left such a great void. This recording revisits the contribution she made during her lifetime.
