Description
Pawel Lukaszewski is known primarily for his religious works - a cappella choral music and great vocal and instrumental pieces, led by eight monumental symphonies. However, he has also composed numerous purely instrumental works, among which those for solo piano occupy a significant place. The cycle of 15 nocturnes is based on previously written choral works, mostly on religious themes. However, the miniatures became independent pieces. The world premiere took place in the autumn of 2022 in the interpretation of Marcin Tadeusz Lukaszewski - an award-winning composer and outstanding pianist specializing in the performance of piano music and songs by Polish artists from the 19th century to the present day. The individual nocturnes were named after newly discovered stars. Their piano texture is specific - it requires from the performer not so much virtuosity as peace, expression, sacred and space; at the same time, it is of utter importance to capture and show the micro- and macro-form.

This album presents the world recording premiere of Pawel Lukaszewski's Nocturnes. Although they belong to the "Musica Profana" series (this is already a third DUX album featuring music by Pawel Lukaszewski under the series), they will undoubtedly take them, like the future performers, into the world of deep intellectual and spiritual experiences.
