The intense reaction to live shows spurred Mark to start building up a set of original songs inspired as much by Johnny Cash and Alison Krauss as by John Barry and Jimmy Webb. Word got out that this was a band that could play real music. As requests grew for gigs people started to ask where they could buy a CD. So the ‘high tide sessions’ began – a swim in the estuary and then a few hours in the recording studio. WHERE THE RIVER MEETS THE SEA was born. This is an album aching with stories about the big stuff in life - love, betrayal, revenge, lust, loss and fear. It has a character all of its own where country rockers with chiming guitars sit alongside lavish arrangements and stripped-down ballads of church-like stillness.
