Description
Born in Houston in 1939, Joe Washington has been playing the blues and R&B since the '50s but largely in obscurity until relatively recently. After cutting two or three 45s in the early '60s he became a homeless itinerant player for nearly three decades before being 'rediscovered'. Now, with regular gigging and some tours abroad, his sound has evolved into something truly unique, his piercing fretwork on gutbucket guitar and his weathered, wailing voice bursting in almost stream-of-consciousness expressionism. This album of eleven originals and two covers was recorded in 2003 with a four-piece rhythm section.
Tracks: Hard Way 6 / Someone Loves Me / I Feel Alright / Unfinished Business / Last Tear / Bossa Nova Part 2 / New York / Take My Hand / Song For My Father / Don't Do It / 5 Spot / How Long / Bye Bye.
