Description
This unique instrumental and vocal collaboration between tabla player Kuljit Bhamra and vocalist Abdulkarim Raas blends East African and South Asian music and song to create a truly organic whole.
With an exciting palette of sounds drawn from instruments such as the oud, tabla and dhol, the two collaborators Kuljit Bhamra and Abdulkarim Raas (both highly respected in their individual fields) search for common meeting points and launch pads for rhythm, groove and dance beats in a new repertoire bringing together the sounds of Punjab, Somalia, Uganda and Kenya.
Tabla-player and producer Kuljit Bhamra was a central figure in the British bhangra explosion of the 1980s. Vocalist Abdulkarim Raas is a very popular musician in the Somali community in Britain as well as back in Somalia.
"Original works created away from home - yet home from home. A lively up-beat album and soundtrack to a Southall Summer!"
