Description
Between 1956 and 1962, silken-voiced Johnny Mathis established himself as one of the most popular singing stars in the United States, registering twenty-eight Billboard and/or Cashbox Top 100 chart entries.
Parallel with his singles successes, he also sold several million LPs during this rich period (his Johnny's Greatest Hits would famously go on to spend nine-and-a-half years on Billboard's album charts).
However, plenty of other compilations of vintage Mathis material concentrate on his LPs, whereas this set collates his hit 45rpms, featuring all twenty-eight of his U.S. chart entries between his first release, in 1956, and his final 45rpm of 1962.
Includes million-sellers like 'Wonderful! Wonderful!', 'It's Not For Me To Say', 'Chances Are', 'The Twelfth Of Never', 'A Certain Smile', 'Misty', 'Gina', etc.
Lack of available playing time prevents us from including either his releases which bubbled under the Top 100, or his various other international hits.
