Description
Several early white American bands recorded in Britain while on tour, for instance The Original Capitol Orchetra, a genuine 'riverboat' band of great historical interest who never even recorded in the USA. Another example was The Carolina Club Orchestra which later developed into the famous Hal Kemp Orchestra. Alto saxist Kemp made his first recordings in Britain with The Carolina Club Orchestra. Other examples featured here include The Southern Rag-A-Jazz Band and The Boston Orchestra. Most of these recordings are hard to find on original 78s and little of this material had been previously reissued on vinyl, let alone CD.
