In his debut album "Portrait in Rhythm," the drummer from Allgau impressively demonstrates how profoundly music can be shaped by movement and order. Magnus Dauner is not only a trained jazz drummer but also a musical globetrotter. His passion for drumming led him to South India, where he studied the complex South Indian rhythms at the Karnataka College of Percussion. In Tanzania, he immersed himself in the traditional rhythms of East African Ngoma music at the Shine Africa Academy, and in Istanbul, he delved into Turkish and Arabic drumming traditions. These travels are the source of his inspiration, allowing him to weave various rhythmic influences into a harmonious whole, rather than merely stringing them together. "Portrait in Rhythm" takes the audience on a colourful world tour, characterized by the freedom of jazz, foreign and familiar sounds, and an infectious joy of playing. Always in motion, always within a predetermined order - Magnus Dauner lets his listeners experience a vivid and emotional soundscape. -
