Sumptuous 2025 duo meeting between two master musicians - Italian jazz guitarist Alessio Menconi and the UK's hardest working guitarist Nigel Price, known for his prodigious recording output and epic countrywide tours.
"Alessio and I had planned to make this record acoustically, but when we walked into the control room at Masterlink there were two vintage 1963 Fender Bassman heads in there, one sat on top of the other. Alessio said immediately "Let's use these." So we did!
This is a collection of compositions that are in part chosen to remember some of the past giants of jazz guitar - Pat Martino, Wes Montgomery and Emily Remler. We snatched the opportunity to record for an afternoon in the middle of a tour at the tail end of 2025.
We also managed to grab a couple of tunes from our show on bonfire night at the legendary London jazz venue - The Bull's Head in Barnes. There would have been more live takes but I forgot to press record for the first set! Like so much jazz, that unrecorded music just went up into the ether, but we do have this album, which we feel has captured the intimacy and intensity of the duo." - Nigel Price
