This release contains the complete sessions that produced the classic album "Montgomeryland" (Pacific Jazz Records–PJ-5), pairing the Montgomery Brothers (Wes Montgomery on guitar, Monk Montgomery on piano, and Buddy Montgomery on bass) with the extraordinary saxophonists Harold Land and Pony Poindexter. Six songs from the sessions were later reedited with overdubbed arrangements for horns and strings prepared by the great Gerald Wilson. These tracks have been added here as a bonus.Description

Wes Montgomery (1925-1968) is widely recognized as one of the most revered guitarists in jazz history. Montgomeryland, recorded over at two sessions in 1958 and 1959,showcases the Montgomery Brothers with tenor saxophonist Harold Land and alto saxophonist Pony Poindexter, as well as drummers Louis Hayes and Tony Bazley.
BONUS TRACKS: 'Stompin' At The Savoy' from the same sessions, but not included on the original LP.
