The British jazz scene was saddened by the death of supreme drummer Tony Crombie. Crombie was an innovative and often controversial musician who was not afraid to embrace Rock'n'Roll in the '50s, to the amusement of fellow jazzers; however, respectfor his drumming art was never questioned, nor was his ability as a composer.
This CD, as part of Jasmine's British Modern Jazz Series, is a straight re-issue of a 1960 Tempo jazz session featuring an eight piece band which includes Stan Tracey on pianoand Harry Klein on sax. "Swinging Music In The Modern Manner" indeed!
