Description
Meet Tom & Jerry - no, not early Simon & Garfunkel recordings, or the cartoon cat and mouse, but two widely respected Country session guitarists. They teamed up in 1961 to cut the 'Guitar's Greatest Hits' LP, and recorded 'Guitar's Greatest Hits Vol. II' the following year. This reissue marks the first time these albums have ever appeared on CD.
On these LPs they were backed by the full Nashville "A" Team: Hank Garland (guitar), Harold Bradley (guitar), Kelso Herston (guitar), Floyd Cramer (piano), Bob Moore (bass), Buddy Harman (drums), and Boots Randolph (sax).
These LPs are serious collectors' items, almost unfeasibly rare, and appeal equally to both instrumental and C&W aficionados.
Tom Tomlinson had worked on the Louisiana Hayride in the early 50s and carved out a reputation as a hot session guitarist, before joining Johnny Horton's band - he played on all Horton's hits.
Jerry Kennedy had been a successful 13-year old Rockabilly singer, 'Jerry Glenn', before also joining the Louisiana Hayride house band, eventually becoming a Nashville "A" Team regular at the age of just seventeen.
