The Embrooks have been providing the finest blend of hard Garage, Freakbeat and Psychedelia since late '96, putting a mid-late 60s stamp on the now! Consisting of Lois on drums (at some point also in The Dirty Burds, The Lyds and Thee Jezebels), Alessandro on guitar/vocals (also previously in Head And The Hares, and a few other projects) and Mole (at some point also with Stewed, The Higher State, The Mystreated, The Jack Cades and The Lyds, but now also making noise in The Baron Four, The Capellas, The Galileo 7 and sometimes Groovy Uncle). Mole is also head buff at State Records and North Down Sound Studio. Lois and Alessandro are also one half of Odd Men Out! The Embrooks hibernated in 2005, but woke to release the storming Nightmare/Helen double header single on State Records in 2016, swiftly followed up by their fourth studio album, 'We Who Are' in 2018, followed by four further 7" singles, one of which being 'Human Living Vampire' on Spinout Nuggets in 2021. The Embrooks continue their goodness, this time with the new long player 'Fragments Of Yesterday'. From the raw garage of 'Closed Doors' and 'That's When Happiness Began' through the slightly-delic 'Love, Love, Love (Thou Hast Forsaken Me)', the near-protest of 'Black-Hatted Lady' and folk-rock jangle of 'My Way, It's Here' and '(Please) Don't Ask Me Anymore' to the acoustic acid folk of 'Where Are We Going (Life Takes Different Paths)', this is eclecticism personified! The use of unusual instruments such as celeste, hammered dulcimer, autoharp, trumpet and recorders helps convey a myriad of moods.
