Description
First self-released in 2017, and created following the unique creative process brothers Mark and Clive Ives adopt when making music as Woo - tapping into their incredibly spacious musical archives, the pair select sounds that complement each other, then create new albums from them, overdubbing the existing tracks or even adding newer contemporary music - Xylophonics finds the brothers Ives reworking tracks they originally created in the '90s. Back then, they had just begun recording onto computers, and Xylophonics showcases their first opportunity to properly link drum machines with keyboards, and create loops and multitrack more layers without the need of sound on sound on a tape deck. Now reshaped and released on vinyl and CD for the very first time, Xylophonics is the sound of an exceptionally prolific duo working on melodic loops made with tuned percussion instruments (such as marimba, kalimba and xylophone) and creating a feel that is at once futuristic and optimistic. As Bandcamp Daily once noted, "to enter into Woo's world is to step outside of your own notions of time".
