    This special edition brings together landmark recordings from Idil Biret's extensive concert tours behind the Iron Curtain between 1964 and 1990, a period that saw her perform Schumann and Liszt in the most prestigious halls of the Soviet Union and East Germany. Encouraged by legends like Emil Gilels and Nadia Boulanger, Biret became a musical ambassador in divided Europe - giving rare recitals in Leningrad, Leipzig, Dresden, and Moscow, including a televised concert in 1976 and performances with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. Featured here are two of the most profound works in the Romantic repertoire: Schumann's Fantasie in C, Op. 17 and Liszt's Sonata in B minor.
