  • Description

This broadcast was recorded during the 1981 tour promoting the "Modern Times" album. By this point Grace Slick had rejoined the band and can be heard in signature form from the opening "Somebody To Love" right through to the end of the show. This appeared to be a happier period for the band following the acrimony of Slick's original departure- and that of Marty Balin due to his dislike of touring- yet still some way away from the wrangling over the rights to names etc. that was to bedevil the band in later years.

The majority of the current album is played here along with popular cuts from previous releases and a couple of Airplane classics authored by Grace Slick. The band is on rocking form throughout with arguably the tightest rhythm section in the bands history on duty in Aynsley Dunbar and Pete Sears . Add to this the power of dual vocalists Grace Slick and Mickey Thomas alongside Craig Chaquiro's searing guitar and you have a powerful representation of West Coast rock from this period in time.
