Description
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, live fromBoston Music Hall, Boston, MA 21st March 1977.
In October 1976 Bob Seger released "Night Moves", his Ninth studio album, and the one that was to break him commercially. Within weeks of it's release the band set out on a tour to promote it that criss-crossed the country for the rest of '76 and most of '77 . Unusually, every track of the album was played at some time on the tour suggesting that none of the material was regarded as "filler." On this recording eight of the nine songs that appear on the record are featured along with three from the previous "Beautiful Losers" release. The remaining four tracks are from pre-Silver Bullet Band days including "Turn The Page" ,a cut from a '73 release "Back In '72" which, imho, is a much overlooked rock gem.
In the February of '77 the bands drummer Charlie Martin was paralysed in a car accident with a replacement from Segers pre Silver Bullet past, David Teegarden, being drafted in. It is Teegarden that you can hear on this recording.
The band released the double album "Live Bullet"in '76, to many people's ears one of the best live albums released to date. This recording finds the band on equally snappy form tackling each track as though for the first time, belying the fact that the set-list had already been toured for half a year with another half year still to come.
Over the coming decades Seger would cement his place as an AOR staple with the release of "Stranger In Town" and "Against The Wind" both albums producing a plethora of great songs that suggest Seger is an oft overlooked giant amongst the rock writers and performers of his day.
