  • Description

Harpist Rachel Talitman and bassoonist Mavroudes Troullos bring to life a unique album of Hellenic Music from the highly acclaimed Greek composer George Kontogiorgos on this World Premiere recording. Kontogiorgos is an award-winning composer with premieres and performances in several European, and North and South American countries, by internationally renowned soloists and orchestras.

The ancient Greek instruments lyra and panpipe, the ancestors of the harp and bassoon, are revisited in this album with special combinations based upon the rich tradition and civilisation. Included are the Tabula Rasa Suite, ten movements, inspired by the Hellenic tradition in classical, lyrical, minimalist and atonal styles, showing the virtuosity of the two instruments. Plus the Archaic Concerto for Harp and Strings, which praises the Greek mythology by playing antique hymns.
