Description
This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the early days of one of the greatest vocal groups ever, Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes, known in these recordings simply as The Blue Notes. This compilation contains most of their recordings from 1953 to 1962.
The first four tracks on this collection are shrouded in some conjecture regarding as to whether they are in fact the same Blue Notes. What is without doubt is the fact that they are superb R&B recordings and worthy of being heard.
Includes 9 tracks from the Josie label which many historians and collectors believe to be the correct line up with Harold Melvin and it's here that we get their debut single "If You Love Me (Really Love Me). Also included is the group's first big hit "My Hero" from 1960.
Harold Melvin died in 1997 and most of the other members have also now passed away but their music lives on. This compilation is a fitting tribute to this exciting group on their way to their 70s international stardom.
