    As always, BachWerkVokal is on top form. The accomplished ensemble, with only a few singers, is contrasted by an equally flexible instrumental ensemble of various wind and percussion instruments. Gordon Safari shapes this with stylistic confidence.

    Through choral works by Bach, Alma Mahler, Schelle and Gruchmann, Safari and BachWerkVokal tackle both historical and modern writing with ease. The use of the entire church hall for the recording of Gruchmann's cantata provides a spatial sound that shines through on Super Audio CD.
