Description
Debut album from one of the foremost researchers and performers of Palestinian music, singer and broadcaster Reem Kelani. SPRINTING GAZELLE encompasses Reem’s arrangement of traditional Palestinian songs that she recorded and collated from her maternal family in Nazareth, from women in the refugee camps in Lebanon and from other Diaspora Palestinian communities. The CD also includes songs which are Reem’s own musical settings of contemporary poetry by the likes of Mahmoud Darwish, Rashid Husein, Mahmoud Salim al-Hout and Salma Khadra Jayyusi.
“Reem Kelani is Palestinian but her vocal style seems to effortlessly transcend any boundaries.” - Time Out, London
