Gianna Lauren's second release, On Personhood,is given a UK release to celebrate Gianna's apprearance at Brighton's famed Great Escape Festival. It is a strongly-convicted testament to the Canadian indie catalogue and a great leap forward for Lauren's repetoire of atmospheric rock.
The six-song EP was recorded live-off-the-floor at the new House of Miracles in London,Ontario,an upgraded 19th century stone horse stable turned studio. Lauren brought the group of musicians together for five summer days in 2012 to write,rehearse and record.
Originally hailing from Alberta and Ontario, singer-songwriter Gianna Lauren has called Halifax, Nova Scotia home for the past four years. She has since immersed herself in her Atlantic surroundings by becoming a fixture in Halifax's thriving, collaborative music scene. These experiences have culminated in a new album of lushly arranged indie rock, entitled On Personhood.
Warm guitar tones, brooding melodies and remarkable tenor are the cornerstones of Lauren's sound. Her songs are laced with themes of human behaviour and adaptation, and are delivered with thoughtful and charismatic performances. -
