Description
One of Seattle's best kept secrets - an extraordinary album of sparkling orchestral pop from Poland!
Taking inspiration from the likes of The Beatles' 'Sgt. Pepper', Brian Wilson's 'Pet Sounds', Queen's 'A Night At The Opera', and the Kinks' 'Village Green Preservation Society', Poland continues in the tradition of creating well-crafted pop songs with a strong emphasis on song-writing, involved arrangements and subtle orchestration.
Guitarist/composer Mark Bombara formed Poland in 2006 with a group of enthusiastic Seattle musicians including drummer Shane Peck, violinist/string arranger Janet Utterback-Peck, bassist Noah Wilson, violinist Karen Halliburton and viola player Brianna Atwell. The 2007 addition of Bombara's long-time friend Mark Romanowski as singer/guitarist/co-writer completed the line-up. Both Bombara and Romanowski are multi-instrumentalists, experimenting with different instrumentation such as banjo, melodica, vibraphone, keyboards, lap steel, glockenspiel, and ukulele on their recordings.
